Alexandre Koenig is the partner heading the restructuring and insolvency practice within the Paris office of Stephenson Harwood. He is a restructuring and insolvency and dispute resolution specialist.
Alexandre advises and assists a wide range of French and international clients, including the various stakeholders faced with an insolvency situation or crisis (distressed companies, shareholders, creditors, debtors in difficulty, investors, purchasers, insolvency practitioners, etc.) on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency matters, whether it involves financial or operational restructurings or company takeovers, both in an amicable and judicial context.
Alexandre also has leading-edge expertise in the prevention and handling of complex litigation related to restructurings or disposals of underperforming businesses, as well as business disputes arising out of a crisis situation.
He has notably acted in emblematic cases in the industry, transport, technology, telecom, leisure, retail, real estate and construction, energy, publishing and media sectors.
Alexandre's expertise in the field of restructuring is recognised by French and international professional guides and rankings. Alexandre is notably named as one of the best professionals aged under 40 in the world by the Global Restructuring Review (40 Under 40 List 2022), and his team is ranked amongst the key actors on the French market by the Legal 500 EMEA 2024, Leaders League (Décideurs) and Option Droit & Affaires.
Alexandre is a former secretary of the Conference of Lawyers at the Council of State and Court of Cassation. He is an active member of the international associations INSOL Europe and TMA. He is a Lexology National Expert and runs a series of courses on insolvency law at Paris-Saclay University.
Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood, Alexandre worked in the litigation and restructuring and insolvency practice of major international law firms in Paris. He notably was with Bredin Prat for more than seven years.
Alexandre is a graduate of the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sciences Po Paris.
He speaks French and English and is a member of the Paris Bar.
